Everyone loves a good wedding song, especially one that goes to the top of the charts.

Ritchie Valens’ version of La Bamba was a Top 40 hit in 1958, but the song is actually a traditional Mexican folk tune.  Popular as a wedding song in the state of Veracruz, La Bamba involves a dance between the newly betrothed…and any guests who can keep up with the rather complicated footwork.

This version was recorded by Los Panchos in 1945. The trio is one of the most successful in Latin music history.
